Running On…
The weekend blurs. Truly.
I’m in a holding pattern at work. It’s boring as hell since I have NOTHING to do and I’m simply waiting until “last day” to arrive. I seriously just waste time in one of their chairs.
Sheer brilliance, if you ask me.
Friday, however, Sydney was sick and from the odd coughing, crying and messed up breathing, so we both took the day off to get doctor appointments lined up and handle anything we needed (such as correcting the permit for the patio!).
After a long day of “It’s probably allergies” even though the
After 2 trips to Costco for a shed and 2.5 trips to Home Depot for the John Deere Lawn Tractor–that’s right, I said it: John Deere, baby!
Hey, you grow up in the midwest, you have a pretty good idea of what’s what in these types of products. I’ve had relatives with Deere products that have spanned generations.
To me, it’s something to be proud of.
And it mowed my lawn quite nice, as well. Me, on the other hand, well, I sorta F’d up. I guess 2 and a half on the setting is a bit tight, but that’s just better for my own knowledge for next time.
Moron-boy.
And our Saturday… After much mowing, bagging (bagger attachment is a must have, for real) and then a trip to the Home Depot to snag some wood to build the foundation for my shed…
We went to a neighbor’s party. We’ve not had many opportunities to hang in the ‘hood, so it was a welcome event. Except that it was almost entirely outside. And very cold. And Sydney was not doing so hot. And fireworks scared her.
We were gone by 8ish, got Syd to bed and popped in a movie before the late-night calling started. We’ve got goofy neighbors, but I’m happy they were comfortable enough to call, SMS, knock on the door and ask for that Red Bull they wanted so very badly…
Note from Nicolle: Time to get a curtain or a shade on the little windows by the door.
And the next thing I knew it was Sunday morning, time to go shoot guns at the club… And then I was back, and after some simple errands and events, out in the back yard with the XM cruising along to Channel #49: Big Tracks (Our Generation’s Classic Rock) and cranking out from the deck speakers and then slowly, steadily, the foundation for my shed came together, ended up levelled and possibly even a little bit sturdy.
A little while later, I found myself doing a quick run-over with the mower to bag-up any residue from the sawing and stuff (and to pick up some of the neighbor’s clippings that were shot into our yard) and then…
Well, I’m an idiot.
I grabbed 2 left over pieces of plywood and made a little ramp and drove staright on up to my foundation…
Heh.
And it held!
But then, of course, I noticed that the plywood seemed as if… it would slide right of the foundation if I went in reverse. Nicolle came out and helped and I was back off of the foundation and tucked safely away in the garage and grilling up burgers for dinner on the deck–in no time.
So, life is pretty good. Even when you don’t do much and it feels like you’ve done it all.
